What/who is Anai Kadu?

What is Anai Kadu?

Anai Kadu literally translates to elephant (Anai) jungle (Kadu). We are a little coffee farm adjoining the Devamachi reserve forest in the coffee growing district of Kodagu in Karnataka, India. We are a part of the larger family holding called Pottamkulam Estate and hence call ourselves Anai Kadu – Pottamkulam “C” Estate.

The people of Anaikadu

We are a little family of 3 humans and a fur child. Kurian George, a 3rd generation planter currently runs this little farm which has been in the family since the late 50s. Nisha Thomas is a planter-in-training under Kurian and assists him with the day-to-day activities of the farm, primarily focusing on the post-harvest processing of the coffee. They have a 9-year old called Anaika whose name is hidden in Anai Kadu. They also have a 1.5 year old labrador called Bella. Together they are team Anai Kadu.
